Singapore Visit

November 2005 - We went to Singapore to spend our second year wedding anniversary. Our boy was 1 year and i month old that time.

1. Visited Orchard Road: Orchard road is the most happening place in Singapore for shopping, hanging out with friends, etc. It's a very lively place with big malls around.

2. Enjoyed Berjaya Hotel. And of course, as you can guess by now - our 4 day/3 night- stay at Berjaya Hotel in Singapore was sponsored by a friend.

3. Our favorite place in Singapore - Sentosa Island

On the background was the southenmost tip of South East Asia.

Beach Tram ride - (Omigosh... can't believe how long my hair was!)

Beach tram in the background. There're so many things to do and see in Sentosa Island. You need to ride in beach transportations to get around. There were buses, beach trams, trains, etc. There were a lot of attractions at Sentosa Island like the Fort Siloso, Dolphin Show, Moneky Show, and Underwater World (which they said was better than Aquaria KLCC). I've gone to Underwater World but that was 5 years ago so I can't compare it now with the Aquaria here in Malaysia.

Avillion Resort, Port Dickson

One of the honeymoon destinations in my wish list I had (before getting married) was Avillion Hotel in Port Dickson, Malaysia. I just loved the concept of the hotel. It's super romantic. The honeymoon suites had bathrooms that were facing the ocean, with glass walls. It would have been nice to spend our honeymoon there. But of course, it was also nice in Cameron Highlands (Equatorial Hotel) where we had our honeymoon: 1. because it was sponsored by a friend and 2. It has a cool place that was really ideal for honeymooners. We didn't stay in the honeymoon suite in Avillion, Port Dickson but we stayed in one of their standard rooms which was also great. It was a Mother's Day surprise from my husband when I was pregnant with my second child.

Avillion Port Dickson stands for the calming wonders of water. It is a place that brings forth an invitation to reawaken the senses as it endlessly draws the splendour of the sea. Sitting on a waterfront landscape imbued with the magnificence of the Straits of Malacca, this world-class resort offers the simple pleasures of seaside living that embodies Old World glamour and the comforts of modern lifestyle. Sunway Lagoon Amusement Park

We didn't do much at the amusement park because the kids were already tired from the water theme park. But my boy really impressed me. He went to almost all the rides except the ones for older people.

my cool boy, didn't wanna leave Sunway Lagoon

We left only in the evening. Glad to have this kind of break. Will definitely go back there next time. We enjoyed ourselves so much. Next time we go we take other friends with us. So hubby and I can go to bigger rides. ehem ehem "RM" (wrong motive) here. But honestly, I want to take the bigger rides. So friends, if you want to go with us next time, raise your hands. I'm glad to give you a treat.

Sunway Lagoon Water Theme Park

Yesterday was public holiday for Selangor. That meant no work for hubby and no school for my boy. So off we went to visit Sunway Lagoon. We went to the water theme park and amusement park. It was great. We all had a blast. The kids truly enjoyed their time there.

my boy enjoyed playing with his water gun

my girl enjoyed "swimming" on her own

happy daddy and kids time

man-made beach

water sliding

both kids really enjoyed sliding on the water slides

what is a theme park without cotton candy?

just perfect for family.
Sunway Lagoon was awarded as Malaysia's best man-made tourist attraction twice in one year. Straight on the heels of winning the first Asian Attraction Awards for Most Popular Attraction (Medium-sized) in Asia at the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) Asian Expo at Siam Paragon, Bangkok, Thailand, Sunway Lagoon has just been awarded Malaysia's Best Man-Made Tourist Attraction Award by the Ministry of Tourism.

Sunway Lagoon includes: Extreme Park, Water Park, Amusement Park, Wildlife Park, and Scream Park. We chose to go to Water Park and Amusement park only. We paid for 130RM for the four of us, just for water and amusement parks. Quite worth the money considering the kids really enjoyed themselves and of course, hubby and I enjoyed it too although we couldn't take the bigger slides yet... but will definitely do it next time we go there. We'll definitely go back there for Wildlife park next time too. We've been to the petting zoo when it was still in the different place... but when they moved it close to the lagoon, we haven't visited the place yet.

Will post more photos for our amusement park experience.

things to do in genting highlands

People all over the world come to genting highlands known as a city of entertainment. it is a cool place located in pahang, malaysia. Genting Highlands enjoys a spring-like climate, with temperatures no higher than 25°C and rarely falling below 14°C yearly. The temperature in Genting Highlands ranges from 16°C to 24°C all year round. That's why it is one of my favorite holiday destinations. What are the things to do in Gentings as a family?

  1. Theme parks - they have indoor theme park, outdoor the park and even wet theme park. You may check their theme park here: Genting theme park
  2. Believe it or Not - it's quite interesting to visit this place. You can see all the most unique things from all over the world. I love going to this place. If you have kids, it's quite educational to expose them to the different things found that are unique.
  3. Casinos - people from Singapore, Hong Kong and other countries come to Genting Highlands to play casino. I don't do this though. Just to give you an idea of what you can do in Genting Highlands. This might not be an ideal family getaway but of course for some people, this is a good way to unwind.
  4. Hotels - there are different kinds of hotels you can stay in. If you are not sure which hotel you want to stay in, please check http://www.hotelscombined.com. You will be able to compare which hotel is the best hotel for you. I personally like to stay in First World Hotel. Once you get their promotion, they have great offers for such a cheap rate. You can stay there for 38.88RM for 2 days/1 night (inclusive of breakfast for two) or 48.88rm for 3 days/2 nights (inclusive of brekafast for two plus two tickets to their international show). There are other hotels that are available. Check this out:
    http://www.hotelscombined.com/Hotel/First_World_Hotel_Genting_Highlands.htm
  5. speaking of international show - this is a must see show. as they invite international performers to do a stage performance. It's world class.
  6. Restaurants - a lot of restaurants available. you can get just about any kind of food from local food to western cuisine. Fast food restaurants are all over the place too.
How to get there? You can drive straight up to the top of the highlands or take a bus from KL central to the foot of the highlands and take the longest and fastest (in south east asia) cable cars to the entertainment place. If you are from outside the country, there is a budget air lines called air asia that would bring you to Malaysia for a cheaper airfare.

Genting Highlands is indeed one of my favorite family getaway destinations. It is just an hour drive away from where I live and I feel so blessed to be living near the city of entertainment.

Midvalley Megamall Food Court

Had Italian Fettuccine when we went to Midvalley MegaMall for window shopping. We had lunch at the food court. The food was not bad at all. Cheap too. The Food court has different kinds of food. There's local food available too.

cantonese yee mee

i have this thing for Cantonese Yee Mee nowadays. I'm not so much into Chinese food, especially the Chinese dinner with 9-10 courses. I love to eat but my tummy couldn't take the different varieties. So I stick with noodles. I love Chinese noodles. My husband introduced me to Cantonese Yee Mee. It has been my favorite Chinese food ever since. I like the taste of the Mee against the egg sauce. The Chinese restaurant below my hubby's office serves the best Cantonese Yee Mee. I tried the one in Summit Mall... but the one at the office area was the best.
