Things to do in Cameron Highlands

Cameron Highlands is a special place for me and hubby. It's where EVERY thing was revealed. The unfolding, we call it. We used to go there at least two times in one year just to do our retreat. After our girl was born, we've stopped going there... for reasons I can't remember.

We just came back from Cameron Highlands and it was awesome to visit the place again. So refreshing because of the coolness of the weather.

Where to stay in Cameron Highlands?

There are actually hotels that I really really like, especially when going for a break with family. You can google about it at http://www.hotelscombined.com. You will be able to compare which hotel is the best one for you, according to your budget.

You can actually surf the internet and look for Cameron Highlands hotel reviews at http://www.hotelscombined.com/City/Cameron_Highlands.htm. I tell you it is very helpful to do it. When we were deciding which hotel we wanted to stay for our honeymoon, we wanted the best. So we chose Equatorial Hotel.

Equatorial Hotel is situated on the highest peak of Camerons, at about 4,500 feet below see level. It is a high rise hotel as well. So you'd get the best accommodation possible as the hotel overlooks Camerons with tea plantations, rose gardens, strawberry parks and more.

I'm sure it would be better if we booked our hotel stay way ahead and not just walk-in, as you can do with budget hotels. Quite risky to just walk-in, right? There might not be a room available for you.

Anyways, here are the things to do and places to see in Cameron Highlands:

4. visit strawberry farm and taste the strawberry ice cream and if you're on a budget, get the strawberry ice candy that costs 1RM.


5. Enjoy Tea and Scones at Cameron Valley Tea Shop and/or Boh Tea Shop... or enjoy Starbucks coffee at Tana Ratah. Yes, there is starbucks in Cameron Highlands. And you know what that means, right... You can have coffee, open your notebook, connect online and get connected with family to tell them how you are grateful you're in such an awesome cool place... in Cameron Highlands.

Family Trekking

It was our family's first time to do training going to Johnson's Falls in Cameron Highlands. Had fun hiking.

I am the official photographer. So it's rare that you see me in the photos. You can tell our boy is more "manja" than his sister.

It rained the night before. That's why the water was sort of brown.

Can you imagine doing a jungle walk and passing by a shop that sells Strawberry and Marmalade, wild honey and blackberry jam? It was interesting.

Great place to hang out. Great place to spend family time. Great place to do reflections. What can I say? The place was stunning. I have been here a few times but never get to stay. Everytime we want to book a stay, they're always full, all year round. So if you want to stay in this beautiful place, you need to book like 6 months to onr year in advance.

Where to Stay in Cameron Highlands?

There are 3 hotels in Cameron Highlands that are very special to me and my family. I know there's a lot of nice places to stay in Cameron Highlands, whether you're on a budget or traveling in luxury.

Equatorial hotel

This was our honeymoon hotel, in Brinchang, Cameron Highlands. Stayed for 4nights and 5 days. You can imagine how memorable this place was to us.

Perched at 1,628 meters above sea level, surrounded by majestic mountains and gentle undulating valleys, Equatorial Cameron Highlands is the only resort situated at the highest accessible point of highlands.

Merlin Inn

This was the first hotel the family took for our first retreat as a family. I said family because Schenker was already with us. He was only 7 weeks old when we came and stayed in this hotel.

Cameronian Inn

The first hotel we stayed at when we had Samantha in the family.. which was last week only. The place was located in Tana Ratah. It's very cheap and good for budget travelers.

My World #1 - Cameron Highlands

My Part of the World - Malaysia

I am joining My World meme where everyone showcases their part of the world. I am posting a photo of Cameron Highlands tea plantation for my first entry.

Camerom Highlands is situated in the province of Perak, Malaysia. It has a cool weather and perfect place for retreats, honeymoon, etc... There are lots of tea plantations around, as seen on the pic. The best part is, you can have tea and scones in the middle f the plantation! That's my favorite part about Cameron Highlands. That's were we had our honeymoon too 5 years ago. A couple of friends gave us free honeymoon packages and we could choose where we wanted to go for our honeymoon. We preferred a cool place that time so we chose Cameron Highlands, Pahang, Malaysia as our first honeymoon destination. It's a beautiful and romantic place. Camerons is known for its tea plantations and its like the place is surrounded by them. I loved the idea of having tea and scones in the middle of the plantation. We stayed at Equatorial Hotel for 5 days. You know when it's cold you would crave for hot soups? Well then, steam boat restaurants were all over the town. So almost every night, Peter and I would go for steamboat food. And of course, we had tea and scones for tea time in the afternoon.

The second honeymoon destination was in Fraser's Hill, Pahang. It's another cool place. It's much quieter compared to Cameron's. It's a good place for retreats, trekking, and of course honeymoon. The only glitch with the place was there weren't a lot of things going on around. Restaurants and shops were scarce. But of course, it wasn't a problem at all coz as honeymooners, we didn't have to go out a lot often, right? So we had reasons to stay in our hotel most of the time. We stayed there for 3 days.

These were the most unforgettable places in our lives as a couple. These were the days of the unfolding, discovering and learning from each other. Oh, by the way, we also stayed for one night after the wedding at Cyberview Lodge Resort and Spa at Cyberjaya. But you know, one couldn't do anything so much on the first night, being so tired from the day's event (and a bit embarrassed). But what I appreciated most about staying there was... we were served champaigne and chocolate dipped strawberries. That was awesome. We unwinded at the huge bathtub which has a glass wall. So you can actually see everything outside from the inside. The image on the left is where my sister Jirah and I stayed on the wedding eve. My parents were in the next chalet. Peter and I spent our first night together on the image on the right.
