Things To Do In Phuket

Phuket is a tropical island found in the south of Thailand. It is an island surrounded by many small islands (islets). The island is very beautiful and you could do so many things while there:

  • Island hopping. You might want to see James Bond Island there. It was named as such because they used that place to shoot of of James Bond's movies.
  • Raya Island. It is a small which is 1 hour by speed boat and 3 hours by long tail boat. Among the islands that I have been, this was my favorite. It's a paradise. You could go snorkelling at the crystal clear sea that surrounds the island. Perfect for honeymoon and family retreat too.
  • Phi Phi Island. It was a bit commercialized but I liked it too. It's just sad that it was hit by the 2005 tsunami. But it has completely recovered from the wreck the tsunami has caused. Would like to visit Phi Phi Island again. The Beach (the movie) was shot there, too.
  • Water Falls. There are quite a few water falls that can be found in the island. Peter and I make sure we go and see them everytime we go there. Water Fall is Peter's favorite.
  • Thai Naan Restaurant. It's great for eat-all-you-can place. They serve a mix of both western and asian cuisine, for 199 Baht. That's very cheap for sure.
  • Promthep Cape. You can watch the sunset there. Promthep Cape has the best sunset view.
  • Kata Hill View. If you want to see the three most beautiful beaches in Phuket, go to Kata Hill view. You can see Patong Beach, Kata Beach and Karon Beach all at once.
  • Shopping - don't shop in Patong. Once they know you're a foreigner, they will double up the price. Go to Phuket town, across Robinson's Mall.
  • Thai food. They're one of the best food in the world. Spicy but awesome. Try tom yum soup. You can choose which flavour you want: seafood, fish, chicken, beef. Som tam is very good too. My favorite is Kanom Jin. It is rice noodle topped with fish curry. Thais usually eat them for breakfast. I could eat them every day and never get tired of it.
  • Hotels. Hotels ranges from budget ones to luxury 5-star hotels. Depending on your budget.
  • Spa. Sauna houses are all over Phuket. You can go into sauna the whole day for only 40 Baht (4RM or 1US$)!
  • Massage. Massages houses are everywhere too. After a long day of walking around, shopping and swimming, you might wanna do massage. 200Baht for 1 hour. How cheap is that, huh?
  • Scuba Diving. I haven't done this. But people all over the world come to Phuket to Scuba Dive.
  • A lot more.
  • And I'm missing Phuket so much.
Hoping to visit Phuket again. It was my home for almost 3 years and indeed, I had a great time with great friends there.

I've heard so much about a hostel and bar in Karon Beach, Phuket called Boost Bar run by a kiwi by the name of Jerry.
Did you happen to make it there and is it true what they say about the place...
Sounds like the place to go if you're a backpacker or young couple looking for a genuine host and lots of fun...
